Cheerios is absolutely the best. Not only is it sugar limited, but its whole grain recipe is good for high cholesterol, which most diabetics have.
Sweeten with artificial sweeteners, of course . . . . . .

  1. Oatmeal with Cinnamon. You get the benefits of whole grain and also Cinnamon.

    Tin

  2. Any high-fiber, low sugar cereal.

  3. Any food that is healthy for a non-diabetic is good for a diabetic. That means limit your salt and sugar usage, watch your portion size, and learn how to read food labels.

Since you specifically ask about cereals eliminate the ones loaded with sugar and corn syrup. Instead choose Cherrios, shredded wheat, oatmeal and other whole grain products. (Don’t be afraid to buy the store brands or generics to leave money in your wallet) You can use artificial sweetener and fresh fruit (bananas are particularly good) to bump the flavor up.

Breakfast doesn’t have to be boring. My favorite is oatmeal, a cheese omelet, a slice of whole wheat toast with butter and a banana. That’s a good breakfast for anyone.

  4. I use Cherrios, and Multi Grain Cherrios, Special K and Golden Grahms.
The key is to read the nutrition label and pay attention to the serving size, carbs and sugar.

When it comes to cabs and sugar you want a cereal that is relatively low in carbs which I consider to be under 25gs for 1 cup serving, and minimal sugars. Meaning if a cereal is 25g Carbs but 12g sugar then half of it is sugar. If it is 25g carbs and 1g sugar you are better off.

Cereals like Raisin Bran are awful cause they are packed with sugar and their serving size is only 2/3 cup.

I also suggest oatmeal, eggs or cottage cheese with fruit or tomatoes for breakfast.
